We describe a new species of the genus Cyrtodactylus from southern Vietnam, based on voucher specimens collected from Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces. Cyrtodactylus cattienensis sp. nov. is distinguished from the remaining Indochinese bent-toed geckos by a combination of the following characters: size small, with a maximum SVL of 69 mm; neck band present, extending to the posterior margin of the eye; trunk, tail and limbs bearing irregularly shaped bands: 4–6 light bands on trunk and 4–12 white bands on tail; 16–22 irregular longitudinal rows of dorsal tubercles; 28–42 longitudinal rows of ventrals at midbody; lateral folds weakly developed or absent, without enlarged tubercles; tail not depressed, not enlarged at base, scales arranged in whorls; males with 6–8 precloacal pores in angular continuous series; a patch of enlarged precloacal scales present in both sexes; 3–8 slightly enlarged femoral scales on each hind limb in both sexes; femoral pores absent; precloacal groove absent; subcaudal scales small, not transversely enlarged - Zootaxa 2161: 20–32 (2009)

A new species of Protobothrops genera were recorded in karst region in Trung Khanh Nature Reserve, Cao Bang Province in northeastern Vietnam. This paper (part I) includes description of a new species of Protobothrops genus. The short data on natural history and comparison with species of Protobothrops and Trimeresurus sensu lato are provided. Special focus is made on comparison with Indochina and southern China pitvipers from karst massifs in tropical and subtropical forests. A new species of pit vipers from karst region of Trung Khanh Nature Reserve, Cao Bang Province in northeastern Vietnam is referred by us to genus Protobothrops Hoge et Romano-Hoge, 1983 on the base of 70 Nikolai L. We describe a new species of the gekkonid genus Gekko from southern Vietnam on the basis of three adult specimens from Cuc Dong Cape, Ninh Hoa District, Khanh Hoa Province. Gekko truongi sp. n. is  distinguished from congeners by the combination of the following characters: medium-sized species with a maximum 95.9 mm SVL; supralabials 13–15; postmentals enlarged; interorbitals 45–58; dorsal tubercles absent; well developed lateral folds; scales between mental and cloaca 160–172; ventrals 35 or 36; subdigital lamellae below first toe 11–13, below fourth toe 15–17; faint basal webbing between fingers and toes; precloacal pores in males 10 or 11; postcloacal tubercles in males 1/1; number of transverse dorsal scale rows in the middle of the third caudal whorl 11; a prominent light postocular stripe is lacking; dorsum grey with dark pattern and light blotches and lines. - Zootaxa 3129: 51–61 (2011)
